Cupcake wars

Jed and I love the Food Network and one show we enjoy is Cupcake Wars. If you're not familiar, it's where  4 contests battle it out with three challenges, getting eliminated along the way. In fact, we like any show about food, challenges and elimination.

Anyway - one night, we were feeling snacky (ok, that's most nights) so we decided to try out a homemade cupcake recipe. None of our cookbooks had a cupcake recipe (yes, you can make cupcakes from a cake recipe, but it's not very cupcake wars-like, now is it?).

Well, neither of us could actually come up with a recipe out of thin air not having done it often enough so we looked up some cupcake recipes on the Food Network's website under Cupcake Wars. Lots of the recipes called for ingredients we didn't have (like alcohol or tofu) but I liked a few of their frostings. So I found a plain yellow cake recipe from some random website for a dozen cupcakes and then used a brown sugar frosting from the Food Network's site and put them together.

A view of heaven:

Well, a really, really sweet heaven. It was the kind of sweet that tickled the back of your throat.

Next step: Cupcake Wars! Haha. ha.
