I'll be honest, anything with yeast makes me a little nervous, but then anything with sugar makes me salivate so I said, sure, why not. And dang, we were not disappointed. In fact, half the pan was gone before the end of the day.
This picture was obviously taken early on (and with the phone, so sorry for low quality). This pan is history and we've moved on to the second one. I swear, the hubs does not want a skinny wife. But c'est la vie.
Here is the amazing recipe. Simple, but somewhat time consuming so have a good hour to hour and a half open for this.
Cinnamon knots (recipe from Brenda Roberts)

1/2 c warm water (for yeast)
3 T yeast
2 1/2 c water
3/4 c sugar (put a dab in yeast mixture)
3/4 c shortening, melted
1 T salt
2 eggs
1/2 c dried milk
1/2 c raisins (optional)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
8 c flour
1 cube margarine/butter, melted
1 c brown sugar
1 c sugar
3 T cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c water with dab of sugar. Add all ingredients except the rest of the water and flour. Mix well then add water and flour. Mix just until flour is mixed in. Raise until doubled (about half an hour). To make the knots: (grease fingers first) Pinch off golf ball-sized ball, stretch out in a rope and dip in melted margarine. Roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture then tie in a knot. Place in greased 9X13 pan (will make enough for 2 pans). Bake for 20 min. Enjoy!
